Violet class are taught by Mr Pullen and their teaching assistants, Mrs Stepien and Mrs Bell.
Happy New Year! We hope that you had a good Christmas and are ready for a busy new term.
This half term we will be studying life in Ancient Greece. Much of our English work, and some of our history, will be based on a variety of Greek myths: Theseus and the Minotaur, Perseus and Medusa and the Wooden Horse of Troy. After delving into narratives, we will look at argument and discussion texts and will be answering the tricky question: would you rather be a Spartan or an Athenian? At the same time, we will step up our preparation for this summer’s SATs tests by focusing on spelling, grammar and punctuation – don’t forget to make use of your SATS Companion log-in and the free website www.spellingframe.co.uk.
We are planning to study the physical geography of Greece and how it affected the growth of the ancient city states such as Athens, Sparta and Knossos, whilst our history will consider as many aspects of life in Ancient Greece as possible. Our science will look at how to conduct an experiment, gather information and draw conclusions from results. We will continue our music sessions with Mr. Ecclestone. Outdoor PE will take place on a Wednesday afternoon: please ensure your child has appropriate clothing for this as it can get a little chilly!
