Welcome back! Many thanks for all the positive comments over parents evening; it was good to hear how much the children enjoyed our World War Two topic and how much they talked about their learning at home. We particularly enjoyed our trip to Duxford and evacuation day – many thanks to all the adults who helped.
This half term we will be looking at the life and times of Mr William Shakespeare, acting out plays and writing biographies. Our main impetus will come from the Young Shakespeare Company’s performance of Macbeth last half term! This will then start our English work: re-tellings of the story and drama based upon specific scenes, followed by reading and writing biographies of Shakespeare. At the same time, we will begin to prepare the pupils for this summer’s SATs tests by focusing on spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Much of our maths this half term will be focusing on fractions. We will be looking at equivalents, ordering, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing them – basically anything you can do with a fraction!!
We are planning to link our Geography into this topic by looking at the human and physical geography of Scotland, whilst our History will be a recap of the Tudor period focusing especially on how Richard III has been portrayed. We will continue our music sessions with Mr Ecclestone, and our outdoor PE will be hockey – please make sure that your child has appropriate clothing!
As we are talking about clothing – we will celebrating Anti-Bullying Week by wearing odd socks (the theme is “All Different, All Equal”) on Tuesday 14th November. Easier to source than a superhero costume!!
