Lilac class

Summer 1 – Could a Polar Bear Survive in the Desert?

We have an extremely busy few weeks ahead of us.! Our main topic is based on the science topic of evolution and inheritance, looking at the life and work of Charles Darwin and

Isolating strawberry DNA!

its impact on the scientific world. We have started the term by looking briefly at DNA but will continue thinking about natural selection, inheritance and genes through out the half term.

One of our main focus will, obviously, be the Year 6 SATS . We have been working hard all year, and the three weeks before the tests will be polishing and revising everything we have covered not just this year, but since the end of Year 2. We will also be covering some of those grammar features that we have not yet covered this year – the present perfect for example!

This year the national SATs tests begin on Monday 8th May, and continue throughout the week. These tests are important for both the school and your child, and we therefore ask that the children must attend school everyday unless there is a serious problem that cannot be avoided. We would also be grateful if you could help us by making sure that they arrive on time on the day of a test.

For those parents who have children going on the trip, here are a list of useful letters that you may wish to look at:
